These incredible works of straw art are made by students from the Musashino Art University in Tokyo. Each year since 2008, students from the university have been converging on  Kamizeki Lagoon Park in Niigata City to make the impressive structures.

The art works mostly use a wooden frame for support before the woven straw is added to the outside. As you can imagine, the pieces are a huge hit with kids and adults alike. The festival also includes a range of other activities to keep visitors entertained.
